ASX Morning Brief: Futures Jump 2.2% as Wall Street Reverses on Iran De-escalation (12 June 2026)
SPI 200 futures point to a 2.2% higher ASX open after Wall Street reversed Wednesday’s selloff. Trump cancelled planned Iran strikes and flagged a deal, sending Brent down 2.17% and the VIX down 12.5%. Chip stocks led, Lam Research +12.65% and Micron +11.66%, with the Nasdaq +2.54%. Gold rose 2.78% to US$4,228; iron ore sat near multi-month lows at US$101.60/t.
ASX 200 climbs 1.98% to 8,804 as banks, miners and lithium ride Wall Street's relief rally
The S&P/ASX 200 rose 1.98% to 8,804.0 on 12 June 2026, tracking Wall Street's overnight rally after oil fell on Middle East de-escalation. Banks, BHP and gold miners drove the points; lithium names led the gainers as JPMorgan upgraded its spodumene forecast and Pilbara to overweight. Advancers beat decliners almost four to one.
