ASX finishes the week up 0.28%: gold miners lead, energy falls

The ASX 200 ended the week up 0.28% at 8,829, a flat result over a sharp sector split. Gold miners rose on the Vault and Regis merger and the June index rebalance, while a hawkish FOMC lifted the US dollar and pushed oil, gas and coal lower. Karoon fell 29% on a Gulf of Mexico setback.
