ASX 200 ends the week 2.33% higher as an Iran strike pause sinks oil and soft CPI lifts tech

The S&P/ASX 200 closed at 8,976.8 on 31 July 2026, up 2.33% for the week and ending three straight weekly declines. A pause in US and Iranian strikes around the Strait of Hormuz took Brent down 8.70% on Monday, and Wednesday's June-quarter CPI at 3.8% removed August rate-hike pricing. WEB.AU gained 33.07% on a guidance lift and a $90 million buyback; AYA.AU fell 28.55%.
