ASX 200 ends week 0.62% lower at 9,058.9 as CSL and gold miners offset a 5.11% bank slide

The S&P/ASX 200 finished the week at 9,058.9, down 0.62%, a second straight weekly fall. August results pulled sectors 15.76 percentage points apart: health care rose 9.21% on CSL.AU +23.30%, while financials fell 5.11% and consumer discretionary 6.55%. Offshore, US federal debt passed US$40 trillion, 30-year Treasury yields hit a 2007 high, and gold added 5.56% to US$4,624.10 an ounce, lifting the ASX gold sub-index 12.07%.
