ASX 200 morning brief, 23 September 2026: memory chips set another Nasdaq record, crude under US$90

The NASDAQ Composite closed at a record 27,244.28 on 22 September 2026, up 0.45%, as MU.US rose 5.00% to US$1,096.16 and the NASDAQ 100 set its own record at 30,732.40. The Dow Jones fell 0.36% to 51,863.69 with UNH.US, CAT.US and GS.US each down about 1%. VKTX.US rose 35.67% on 22% placebo-adjusted weight loss at 33 weeks. WTI November trades at US$89.64 and Brent at US$98.44, gold at US$4,400.50 and AUD/USD at 0.7117. SPI futures point to an 18 point ASX 200 open, up 0.2%, six days before an RBA decision priced near 95% for a 25 basis point rise to 4.60%.
