ASX 200 ends week -0.13% at 8,795.2 as banks gain 4.02% and miners fall 7.69%

The S&P/ASX 200 closed at 8,795.2 on 23 October 2026, down 11.5 points or 0.13% for the week, as financials rose 4.02% and materials fell 7.69%. BHP.AU lost 8.30% after a 19% drop in quarterly copper output and the All Ords Gold index fell 10.08% as December gold slid 4.22% to US$4,010.0/oz, while CBA.AU gained 6.23%. CWY.AU rose 21.05% on a binding EQT offer; NXT.AU fell 38.89% after cutting FY27 guidance. AU September CPI lands on Wednesday and the FOMC decides on Thursday AEDT.
