ASX 200 ends week +1.27% at 9,020.8 as Democrats win Congress; tech +10.02%, energy -7.44%

The S&P/ASX 200 closed at 9,020.8 on 6 November 2026, up 112.7 points or 1.27% for the week, after a 2.61% gain on Thursday when Democrats won the US House and Senate. Information technology rose 10.02% and energy fell 7.44% as January Brent dropped 13.81%. The RBA lifted the cash rate to 4.85% on Tuesday. NXT.AU gained 77.17% and EOS.AU lost 17.61%. On Wall Street the Nasdaq fell 3.37% for the week.
