US Pre-Market, July 9: Nasdaq Futures Up 0.86% on a Memory Rally as a Starbucks Software Plan Hits IBM
Nasdaq 100 futures trade +0.86% against Dow futures -0.02% before the 9 July 2026 US open, as a memory and storage rally runs into an enterprise software selloff. Seagate STX.US +6.97%, Western Digital WDC.US +6.89% and Micron MU.US +6.54% lead pre-market gains with SK Hynix's Nasdaq ADR book more than 7 times oversubscribed. Ionis IONS.US -19.11% and AstraZeneca AZN.US -7.66% after their Phase 3 heart trial missed its primary endpoint. Initial jobless claims print at 8:30am ET against a 218,000 consensus.
S&P 500 Adds 0.81% as Meta's In-House AI Chip Lifts Equipment Makers and Nvidia Lags
The S&P 500 rose 0.81% to 7,543.64 on 9 July 2026 after Reuters reported Meta will put its own AI accelerator into production in September, lifting chip equipment makers LRCX.US +6.01%, AMD.US +5.67% and MU.US +4.52%. META.US +4.70% was the largest single contributor, while NVDA.US -0.66% finished as the only large-cap chipmaker lower. IONS.US -23.90% and AZN.US -5.70% after their Phase 3 heart trial missed its primary endpoint, with BBIO.US +15.12% on the other side. COST.US -4.21% and PEP.US -3.25% weighed on staples. LEVI.US traded lower after the bell despite raising guidance.
