US Pre-Market: Chips Bounce After the Semiconductor Index Falls Into a Bear Market
S&P 500 futures sit 0.39% higher and Nasdaq 100 futures 0.85% higher after the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index closed Friday 20.23% below its 22 June peak, a fall that started with Moonshot releasing its open-source Kimi K3 model. Seoul reopened after a holiday and closed 4.46% lower, while Hong Kong gained 2.36% on Chinese stimulus expectations. Memory and equipment names lead the pre-market bounce, with MU.US +4.71% and AMD.US +3.67%.

US stocks finished lower on 20 July 2026 as an early semiconductor rebound faded into the close and the 10-year Treasury yield rose to 4.60%. The S&P 500 slipped 0.19%, the Dow fell 0.59%, and 8 of 11 sectors closed red, led lower by health care. Bloom Energy was the worst S&P name at -8.33% on short-seller claims, and Oracle fell 3.98% after a credit downgrade.
