Nasdaq Futures +1.24% as Semiconductors Reverse a Month of Selling
Nasdaq 100 futures trade +1.24% against Dow futures +0.20% before the 21 July 2026 open, a split driven by semiconductors after the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index closed 19.8% under its 22 June peak. NBIS.US leads the pre-market at +6.51% on a disclosed 9.3% Nvidia stake. Korea's KOSPI closed +3.56% and Japan's Nikkei +3.26%. 3M, GM and Halliburton all beat consensus before the bell, and only MMM.US trades higher.
S&P 500 Closes Up 0.89% as Memory Stocks Reprice and Software Gets Sold
The S&P 500 closed at 7,509.20 on 21 July 2026, up 0.89%, snapping a three session losing run. Technology added roughly 87 bps of the 89 bps index move as DRAM and NAND contract pricing lifted memory and storage: SNDK.US +14.27%, WDC.US +12.51%, MU.US +12.17% and STX.US +11.14%. Semiconductors and software split inside the same sector, SMH.US +4.52% against IGV.US -1.25%. AEHR.US led at +27.86% on a Craig-Hallum target lift to $125. DHR.US -10.99%, VICR.US -7.05% and HAL.US -5.47% each beat on the quarter and each closed lower. The VIX fell 8.58% to 17.05.
