US Markets Close 6 August 2026: S&P 500 at 7,709.96 as the Dow Snaps a Five-Session Run

The S&P 500 closed at 7,709.96 on 6 August 2026, down 0.18%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 464.02 points or 0.85% to 53,885.10 and ended five straight sessions of gains. GS.US, CAT.US and UNH.US account for roughly 310 of those 464 points at Dow price weighting. HONA.US fell 23.16% after Honeywell Aerospace cut organic revenue growth guidance to 4% to 5% from 7% to 9%. Brent gained 5.16% to $83.55 and the 10-year Treasury yield rose to 4.67%. After the bell, TTD.US fell 22% and NET.US rose 17% on results.
