US Pre-Market 28 August 2026: Futures Flat Into Warsh's Jackson Hole Debut
S&P 500 futures held at 7,749.75 (+0.09%) and Nasdaq 100 futures at 29,658.25 (-0.13%) at 08:36 ET, ahead of Kevin Warsh's first Jackson Hole keynote as Fed Chair at 10:00 ET. PYPL.US fell 13.96% after Stripe and Advent abandoned a bid valuing PayPal above $50 billion, ESTC.US rose 24.18% on a 19.9% EPS beat, and MRVL.US fell 7.82% despite record quarterly revenue. Thursday's 0.72% S&P 500 gain came alongside a 0.16% equal-weight decline.
US Close, 28 August 2026: S&P 500 -0.25% to 7,711.76 as Warsh Puts a September Hike in Play
The S&P 500 closed at 7,711.76 on 28 August 2026, down 0.25%, after Fed Chair Kevin Warsh told Jackson Hole that summer inflation readings do not show underlying trends improving, moving September hike pricing to 56% from 36% on CME FedWatch. Technology fell 1.55% on a 34% weight, worth about 53 of the 25 basis point index decline, as MRVL.US lost 10.28% on gross margin guidance and NVDA.US gave back 4.57%. AMZN.US rose 3.97% after AWS committed to 2 million more Nvidia chips. A firmer dollar took GLD down 3.24% and the bitcoin miners down 9% to 13%.
