Brent is up 2.30% to US$98.49 after Houthi strikes on Saudi energy sites.
S&P 500 falls 0.58% to 7,673.52 as a Novartis trial miss cuts health care 2.52%
The S&P 500 closed at 7,673.52 on 8 September 2026, down 0.58%. Health care fell 2.52% after Novartis reported that pelacarsen missed in a late stage Lp(a) study, taking NVS.US down 13.93% and AMGN.US down 10.08%. Software fell a second session after GPT-6 Astra, with IGV -1.83%, while semiconductors rose, SMH +1.19% and INTC.US +9.05%. Brent added 3.15% to US$99.31 after Houthi strikes on Saudi energy sites.
