S&P 500 Ends Week 0.27% Lower as Yields Hit 2007 Highs; Payrolls Miss Lifts Friday
The S&P 500 closed the week ending 2 October 2026 at 7,722.72, down 0.27%, after the 10-year Treasury yield rose 9 bps to 5.28% and hit its highest close since 2007 on Monday. The Nasdaq gained 0.45% and the Dow lost 1.26%. September payrolls added 29,000 jobs against forecasts near 90,000, cutting October Fed hike odds from 64% to 16% and lifting the S&P 500 0.73% on Friday. KOD.US rose 191.96% on Phase 3 data; LQDA.US fell 58.15% on a patent ruling.
