S&P 500 Falls 1.95% for the Week as Tech Drops 7.70% on AI Debt Worries; Nasdaq -4.48%

The S&P 500 fell 1.95% to 7,659.44 in the week to 16 October 2026 and the Nasdaq 4.48%, its worst week since June, as XLK.US lost 7.70% and SMH.US 10.53% on concern over AI borrowing. September CPI ran 3.7% on the year. CIFR.US fell 33.58% and CRWV.US 25.21%; staples rose 5.02% and energy 4.86% as WTI settled at $101.41. The 10-year yield fell 14.6 bps to 5.098%.
