ASX 200 set for a lower open as Iran strikes sink Wall Street and lift oil
Wall Street closed down up to 2% on 10 June 2026 after the US and Iran traded military strikes and Trump warned Tehran would 'have to pay the price'. The VIX jumped 11.83% to 22.22, Brent rose 2.06% to US$95.02 and gold fell 1.70% to a late-March low of US$4,063. The ASX 200 is set to open lower, with energy the one sector pointing higher overnight and the AUD slipping below 70c.
ASX 200 eases 0.23% as a bank rout meets an energy and CSL bid
The ASX 200 eased 0.23% to 8,633.2 as fresh US strikes on Iran fed a bank selloff, with the big four down 1.8% to 2.6% on property-tax fears and short-seller reports. Energy led the board (+1.46%) on the oil rally, and CSL rose 4.16% for a fifth straight session, holding the index to a 20-point fall.
