ASX 200 set for a firmer open as a chip-led Wall Street rebound meets softer commodities

The S&P/ASX 200 closed Thursday 18 June at 8,911.1 (down 0.62%) and faces a firmer Friday open after Wall Street rebounded overnight, with the Nasdaq up 1.91% on an Intel-led semiconductor rally. Softer gold (US$4,220), Brent (down about 9% on the week) and iron ore (near US$101 a tonne) work against that lead for the mining-heavy index. US markets are closed Friday for Juneteenth.
