ASX eyes a firmer open as weekend Gulf strikes lift crude and Wall Street steadies

Australian shares are indicated to open higher after a weekend re-escalation in the Persian Gulf lifted crude, with Brent up 1.12% to US$73.41 and WTI up 1.34%. Wall Street steadied on Friday: the S&P 500 eased 0.05% as MSFT.US (+5.71%) led a shift into software while memory names MU.US and SNDK.US fell. US inflation hit a three-year high of 4.1%, in line with forecasts, and markets now price a near-full Fed rate increase at the October meeting.
