ASX 200 set to open 0.4% lower as crude climbs and CBA reports FY26
SPI futures point the S&P/ASX 200 to open 37 points or 0.4% lower from Tuesday's 9,250.6 close, after the US and Iran failed to advance a Strait of Hormuz deal and the S&P 500 fell 0.32%. Brent settled up 1.6% at US$89.10, lifting September Fed hike odds to about 51%. Commonwealth Bank reports FY26 this morning and US July CPI lands at 22:30 AEST.
ASX 200 falls 0.45% as Seek and Premier Investments lead reporting-season selling
The S&P/ASX 200 closed at 9,209.4 on 12 August 2026, down 41.2 points or 0.45%, as result-day selling in Seek, Premier Investments and Computershare outweighed a 2.64% gain in Utilities. Seek fell 14.31% after guiding FY27 profit about 13% below consensus. Commonwealth Bank reported cash profit up 7% to $10.98bn and still closed 0.69% lower. The index never traded above Tuesday's close, with 89 advancers against 135 decliners.
