ASX 200 set to open 0.2% lower as the US 30-year yield holds a two-decade high
SPI futures point to an 18 point or 0.2% lower ASX 200 open on Wednesday 19 August 2026. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index fell 4.98% overnight and took the Nasdaq down 1.33%, with MU.US off 7.02%. The US 30-year Treasury yield sits at 5.285% after a 5.326% intraday print, its highest since 2007. Spot gold fell 1.83% to US$4,335.35/oz, silver 3.86% and copper 2.51%. EVN.AU, ILU.AU, TLC.AU, STO.AU and WHC.AU all report FY26 results today.
ASX 200 slips 0.18% to 9,053.8 as CSL offsets a WiseTech raid and a 5.80% Kospi rout
The S&P/ASX 200 closed at 9,053.8 on 19 August 2026, down 16.2 points or 0.18%. CSL.AU lifted Health Care 2.60% and nearly covered a 0.64% fall in Financials, while WiseTech WTC.AU fell 8.70% on an ACCC search warrant and Hansen Technologies HSN.AU lost 21.18% on FY26 results. June quarter wages rose 3.2% year on year. South Korea's Kospi lost 5.80% and Japan's Nikkei 3.16% on memory-chip selling.
