ASX 200 futures fall 0.2% to 8,731 as chip stocks drop 5.86% on the AI slowdown call and the US 10-year touches 5%

S&P/ASX 200 futures traded at 8,731 on 15 September 2026, 0.2% below Monday's 8,749.9 close, after the PHLX Semiconductor index fell 5.86% on Dario Amodei's call to slow AI development and the S&P 500 lost 0.48% to 7,619.98. Software rose, with IGV.US +5.04% and ZS.US +16.52%. The US 10-year touched 5.012% before closing at 4.961%, and a 25 bp Fed hike on Thursday is about 90% priced. Brent settled 1.02% higher at US$105.68 with Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline shut; December gold settled 1.29% lower.
