ASX 200 morning brief, 22 September 2026: chip rally, crude slide, Bullock at 1pm

The S&P 500 closed 1.49% higher at 7,764.70 and the Nasdaq set a record 27,122.09 (+2.26%) as INTC.US gained 12.14% and AMD.US 9.95%. META.US rose 11.43%. Front-month WTI settled 4.51% lower at US$95.78 and gold 0.93% lower at US$4,383.90, while copper added 2.23%. SPI futures point to a 0.3% ASX 200 open. RBA Governor Bullock speaks at CEDA at 13:00 AEST, seven days before a board meeting where markets price 86% odds of a 25 basis point increase to 4.60%.
