ASX 200 futures up 0.3% as the Nasdaq gains 1.05% and crude falls 2%
ASX 200 futures pointed to a 27-point (0.31%) gain at the open on 6 October 2026 after the S&P 500 rose 0.66% to 7,773.95 and the Nasdaq 1.05% to 27,477.31, led by NVDA.US (+2.12%) and AVGO.US (+2.08%). The US 10-year yield rose 3.4 bp to 5.31% as the ISM services prices index hit 74.0. November WTI fell 1.99% to US$89.30 after OPEC+ held quotas, copper rose 2.16%, gold was flat at US$4,167.60/oz and AUD/USD traded at 0.6972.
ASX 200 rises 0.57% to 8,735.7 as property trusts gain 1.14% and tech falls 2.90%
The S&P/ASX 200 closed at 8,735.7 on 6 October 2026, up 49.3 points or 0.57%, its third straight gain. Financials (+0.73%) and materials (+0.91%) added about 43 bps and the A-REIT index rose 1.14%, while information technology fell 2.90%. WBT.AU lost 12.98% and ELS.AU 11.55%, and Westpac consumer sentiment fell 4.7% to 80.4 after the RBA hike.
