S&P 500 Closes Flat as a 5% Oil Surge Offsets an Optics Selloff
The S&P 500 finished at 7,753.11 on 10 August 2026, down 0.06%, as a 5.27% jump in WTI crude to $82.30 lifted energy 4.66% and offset a 0.88% fall in technology. SION.US dropped 91.18% after its cystic fibrosis candidate missed its primary endpoint, while VRTX.US rose 5.61% on the same result. Optical names led the downside ahead of fiscal Q4 reports from LITE.US and COHR.US.
