S&P 500 closes 0.32% lower at 7,728.20 as Alphabet falls 3.84% on AI spending
The S&P 500 fell 0.32% to 7,728.20 on 11 August 2026, with Alphabet down 3.84% after raising 2026 capital spending guidance to $195 billion to $205 billion. Energy gained 1.25% as WTI rose 1.34% to $83.23, and the Russell 2000 finished up 0.32%. Super Micro and CoreWeave both reported after the close.
