US Pre-Market: Chip Rebound Lifts Nasdaq Futures, Sea Jumps 10% Before July CPI
Sentiment: mixed S&P 500 futures: +0.14%
S&P 500 futures traded 7,787.25 at 08:41 ET on 11 August 2026, up 0.14%, as semiconductors recovered part of a Monday selloff that took the iShares Semiconductor ETF SOXX.US down 2.55%. Sea Limited SE.US rose 10.02% to $126.30 in pre-market trade after second quarter revenue of $7.80 billion beat the $7.27 billion consensus. July CPI arrives Wednesday, leaving today's calendar without a first tier print and the US 10-year at the 4.70% it settled at on Monday.
Overnight drivers
- SOXX.US +1.44% after Monday's 2.55% fall. Wafer equipment names lead: ASML.US +3.44%, KLAC.US +2.51%, AMAT.US +2.47%, LRCX.US +2.32%. No single company announcement sits behind the cluster move.
- SK hynix set off Monday's decline. Its Nasdaq depositary receipt listing raised about $26.5 billion, and selling after that debut, plus caution running into its quarterly report, dragged memory and AI names lower. NVDA.US fell 2.86%, AMD.US 2.86%, INTC.US 4.06% and AMAT.US 3.16% on the session.
- NQ=F +0.28% against ES=F +0.14%. The 14 basis point spread follows the chip weighting, not a shift in the wider market. Dow futures YM=F sit at +0.04%.
- Tokyo is shut for Mountain Day, so the largest Asian session is absent from the overnight tally. Hong Kong's Hang Seng closed at 25,652.82, down 1.10%.
- Gold GC=F $4,450.10 per ounce, up 0.69%. The dollar index at 99.84 has moved 0.03%, and the VIX at 15.55 sits 0.58% above Monday's 15.46 close.
Monday's session
The S&P 500 closed at 7,753.11 on 10 August 2026, down 0.06%, a second consecutive decline from the record set on 7 August. The Nasdaq Composite fell 0.32% to 26,605.36, the Dow 0.11% to 53,975.98, and the Russell 2000 0.56% to 3,017.40.
Semiconductors fell hardest, SOXX.US down 2.55%, while security and data software rose: DDOG.US gained 11.48%, PANW.US 5.82% and CRWD.US 5.01%. Those two groups offset each other and left the index within 5 points of Friday's close. The 10-year yield rose to 4.70% from 4.66%, and the VIX closed at 15.46 against 14.90 on Friday.
Pre-market movers
| Ticker | Move | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| RIOT.US | +16.96% | Signed a $9.1 billion AI data center lease |
| SE.US | +10.02% | Q2 revenue $7.80 billion beat $7.27 billion consensus |

| ONON.US | -15.68% | Q2 net sales of CHF 850.3 million missed consensus |
| LIF.US | -19.55% | GAAP net income fell to $5.1 million from $7.0 million |
RIOT.US carried a second quarter GAAP net loss of $237 million, or $0.68 per diluted share, so the 16.96% pre-market gain rests on the data center lease rather than the result. ONON.US lifted full year gross margin guidance to at least 65% and reported second quarter growth of 13.5%, or 21.6% in constant currency, and still fell 15.68% on the sales miss. LIF.US reported record second quarter revenue of $159 million, up 38%, and adjusted EBITDA of $31.1 million, up 53%, after Monday's close, with the drop tied to the fall in reported net income and an unchanged full year revenue range of $650 million to $685 million.
