US Pre-Market, 16 September 2026: Nasdaq 100 Futures 0.63% Higher as August Retail Sales Rise 1.2% Before the Fed Decision
S&P 500 futures were 0.33% higher and Nasdaq 100 futures 0.63% higher at 8:33am ET on 16 September 2026 after August retail sales rose 1.2% against a 0.8% forecast. INTC.US rose 3.60% pre-market after Reuters reported talks with SK hynix over Intel's Ohio plant, and WTI fell 2.15% to US$103.55 after a 7.1 million barrel crude build. Fed funds futures price about a 92% chance of a 25 bp hike at the 2:00pm ET decision.
S&P 500 Falls 0.45% as the Fed Hikes for the First Time in Three Years
The S&P 500 closed at 7,551.81, down 0.45%, after the Federal Reserve raised rates 25 basis points to a 3.75% to 4% range and projected one more hike in 2026. Financials fell 1.62% and energy 2.88% as WTI crude dropped 3.60% to $102.02. J.B. Hunt lost 13.30% on a third-quarter earnings warning, and Lennar traded about 2.8% lower after hours on a profit miss.
