Editorial methodology

How articles on this blog are researched, sourced, reviewed and dated.

How articles are researched

Every article starts from a question a swing trader asks in practice: how a tax rule applies to a part sale, how a metric is calculated, what a line on a broker statement means. An article that carries a “Last reviewed” date has had each claim in it checked against a source. A claim that cannot be sourced is removed or softened, never replaced with an invented one.

Sources policy

In a reviewed article, primary sources are named, and linked where they are online, so you can check a claim yourself: the Australian Taxation Office for tax rules, the exchange operator for listing, trading and settlement rules, and the relevant regulator for anything about licensing or disclosure. Where a figure comes from market data, the article names the data source and the date it applies to.

This blog carries no affiliate content. No broker, data vendor or platform pays to appear in an article, and no link here earns a commission. Swingfolio sells a subscription, so the commercial relationship is with you, not with the companies an article mentions.

Review cadence

Tax rates, thresholds and market rules change, so an article that was correct at publication can drift. Once an article has been through a review, it carries a “Last reviewed” date beside its published date, and a review rechecks every claim against its source and corrects anything that changed. An article with no review date has not been rechecked since it was published. If you find an error, email [email protected] and it gets corrected.
