US Pre-Market 5 October 2026: Futures Flat After Friday Rally; PTC +36% on Schneider Deal, Intel -4%

S&P 500 futures are -0.01% and Nasdaq 100 futures -0.18% at 8:32am ET on 5 October 2026, holding Friday's gains after a 29,000 payrolls print cut bets on an October Fed hike and Iran said the Strait of Hormuz stays shut until the US meets seven conditions. PTC.US is +36.08% pre-market to $196 after Schneider Electric agreed to buy the software company for $205 a share in cash. INTC.US is -3.95% to $114.61 after Elon Musk confirmed talks with Taiwan Semiconductor about his Terafab chip venture, which Intel joined in April.

- Fed odds: The September jobs report showed 29,000 new payrolls against an 84,000 forecast and unemployment up to 4.2%. Benzinga puts the probability of an October rate hike at 20.5% this morning, three weeks after the Fed raised its target range to 3.75% to 4.00%.
- Oil and Iran: Brent is +0.43% to $102.69 and WTI -0.76% to $90.42. Iranian state media said on 4 October that Hormuz will not reopen until seven conditions from a June interim agreement are met, including an end to the US naval blockade and the release of Iranian assets. XOM.US is -0.57% and CVX.US -0.52% pre-market.
- Yields: The 10-year Treasury yield last printed 5.28%. The FRED daily series shows 4.96% on 22 September, 5.29% on 30 September and 5.24% on 1 October; the 2-year fell from 4.92% to 4.78% over 28 September to 1 October.
- Chips: TSM.US is +1.56% to $480.30 on the Terafab talks while INTC.US falls 3.95%. NVDA.US is +0.51% and AMD.US -0.91%.
