US Pre-Market 6 October 2026: Futures +0.5% After Nasdaq Record as Brent Drops 2.9%; OPCH +33% on Buyout Talks
S&P 500 futures were +0.50% and Nasdaq 100 futures +0.65% at 8:31am ET on 6 October 2026 after the Nasdaq Composite closed at a record 27,477.31 on Monday. Brent fell 2.89% to $97.42 as Middle East crude shipments recovered toward pre-war levels. OPCH.US rose 33.34% pre-market on McKesson buyout talks and CEG.US 8.55% on a nuclear power deal with Google. The 10-year yield closed at 5.311%, a 24-year high, and the August trade deficit widened to $105.6 billion.
US Close 6 October 2026: S&P 500 Closes Above 7,800 for the First Time as CEG.US Jumps 12% on Google Nuclear Deal
The S&P 500 rose 0.58% to a record 7,818.93 on 6 October 2026, its first close above 7,800, and the Nasdaq Composite added 0.45% to a record 27,599.79. AVGO.US +3.67%, AMZN.US +1.95% and utilities +2.98% supplied more than half the gain as the 10-year yield eased 4.2 bp to 5.269%. CEG.US rose 12.25% on a 20-year Google nuclear power deal and OPCH.US 32.65% on a $32.05-a-share buyout. Health care fell: XBI.US -3.39%, TWST.US -18.55%. After the close, PENG.US beat estimates and STZ.US guided below expectations.
